    Release of Liability

    PLEASE NOTE

    Parent/Guardian Liability Waiver and Consent

    By submitting this registration form, I, as the parent or legal guardian of the participant, acknowledge that participation in the SprocKidz Summer Program involves inherent risks associated with mountain biking, hiking, trail use, outdoor recreation, terrain, weather, equipment failure, and the actions of other participants.

    I voluntarily allow my child to participate and assume all risks related to their participation.

    On behalf of myself and the minor participant, I release, waive, and hold harmless Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers (VMBaH), its board members, officers, volunteers, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising from participation in the SprocKidz Summer Program, including personal injury, illness, property damage, or death. I agree not to bring any claim or legal action against VMBaH related to my child’s participation and agree to indemnify and hold harmless VMBaH from any claims arising from my child’s involvement in the program.

    I acknowledge that helmets and closed-toed shoes are required for all riding activities and agree to ensure my child complies with all safety rules and program guidelines.

    In the event of illness or injury, I authorize program staff or volunteers to seek emergency medical care for my child if I cannot be reached.

    I also grant permission for Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers to photograph or record my child during program activities and to use those images for educational, promotional, or program purposes.

    By submitting this form, I confirm that I have read and understand this waiver and voluntarily agree to these terms on behalf of my child.


    The 2026 season

    Dates: June 8th - July 15th; Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-8 p.m.

    Meeting Location: Kin Win Trail Head (Mat-Su Greenbelt). Parking will be at the University of Alaska Experiment Farm Kin-Win Trailhead off E. Cottrell-Campus Dr.

    Sessions will progress to the Government Peak Recreation Area in Hatcher Pass later in the season.

    Fee: $160 for first Kid; $65 each additional kid. (Includes required Family Membership in VMBaH and SprocKidz fee)

    Program capacity: Number limited to the first 150 to sign up.

    Coaches: We need coaches! No coaching experience needed; we will train. Contact sprockidz@gmail.com of (907) 414-3819 if you are interested.

    SprocKidz meets on Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. Please have your kid in the parking lot ready to go 10-15 minutes prior to start time so they can meet with their group as groups leave promptly at 6:30pm. 

    Please see website to make sure your kid(s) have all the appropriate gear for the season!

    Other special ride days, trails maintenance days and the end of season party will be announced.

    A SAMPLING OF WHAT WE'LL COVER IN THE PROGRAM:

    · Balance and bike handling

    · Proper gear shifting

    · Descending technique (just say no to "endos" by “going moto”)

    · Ascending technique (being the “grasshopper”)

    · Cornering technique (leading with your head and shoulders)

    · Front wheel lift

    · Back wheel lift

    · The Bunny Hop

    · The Track Stand

    · On-trail bike maintenance

    · Food and hydration principles

    · Single track practice

    · Trail etiquette for mountain biking and encountering other trail users

    SprocKidz is a volunteer program and your family's participation is greatly appreciated. You will be able to select a volunteer opportunity on this registration form.

    SprocKidz – Youth Mountain Biking Program

    SprocKidz is a summer youth mountain biking program hosted by Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers, designed to introduce kids and teens (ages 8–18) to the fundamentals of mountain biking in a fun, supportive, and active outdoor environment. Riders will build confidence on the bike while learning trail skills, basic bike maintenance, and proper trail etiquette—all while making friends and having a great time on local trails.

    Sprockidz is a volunteer run program. If you're interested in coaching sweeping or other forms of volunteering, please email sprockidz@gmail.com

    Program Schedule
    The SprocKidz season runs June through July, with rides held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30–8:00 PM.

    • June rides take place at the Experimental Farm entrance of the Mat-Su Greenbelt

    • July rides move to Government Peak Recreation Area

    Additional special rides and end-of-season activities may be included throughout the program.

    Registration Information

    • Returning rider registration: Opens March 25th

    • New rider registration: Opens April 15th

    Spots are limited and tend to fill quickly.
